We have recently released a new version of SharePoint Farm Reporter v3.0, which provides comprehensive set of reports about SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2007 servers in a single product framework. We have merged our ARK for SharePoint 2010 and ARK for SharePoint 2007 products and re-branded this product as SharePoint Farm Reporter to clearly communicate the core functionality of the application. Using this new version, SharePoint reports can be generated for SharePoint 2010 / SharePoint 2007 environments based on the SharePoint version where the product is installed.
SharePoint Farm Reporter has also been redesigned to maintain an unified application database for Quick Reports, Custom Reports, and Power Reports (including all reporting jobs configured in the application). This change has been done so that SQL Database Administrators can easily maintain & manage a single instance of the application database.
Depending on the report that is generated using the Quick Reports, Custom Reports, and Power Reports features, the application stores data for only one report at any point of time in the common database. This enhancement has been done to maintain a nominal (less than 20 MB) database growth without bogging down your SQL server resources. Additionally, SharePoint Farm Reporter will truncate the database based on the application settings automatically, when the application is closed by the user.
Finally, the product reports have been re-classified into 5 SharePoint management categories namely, Audit and Compliance Reports, Security Reports, Policy Reports, Usage Reports and Configuration Reports to assist in SharePoint’s audit, compliance and resource management tasks.
