The new version of Vyapin NTFS Security Management Suite has been released with completely revamped UI. It provides different ways for the users to configure servers, shared folders/files and user/group accounts in a single window.
Provision to input shares and users and groups to generate wide set of reports has been streamlined to maintain uniformity and for ease of use. The associated user interface changes are explained in detail as given below:
Shares and Folders Selection
‘Select Shares and Folders’ dialog accepts shares to view their permissions by providing several options, as shown below:
Manually enter share/folder path
This option is to enter the share/folder path details manually.
Select shares from server
This option has been introduced in this version to load the shares or shared folders from a given server. Using this option, you can enter a server as input to enumerate its currently available shares or the shares available at run time. It will be helpful to analyze the shares which have been added or deleted from the given server at the time of reporting.
Browse Network domains to select Servers and Shares
This option allows you to select the servers or shares in domain controllers, servers and workstations from the available domains in the network.
Scan profiles
This option is to load the Computers or Shares from Scan Profiles (Computers) and Scan Profiles (Shares).
User(s)/Group(s) Selection
‘Select User & Group Accounts’ dialog provides several options to view the permissions for the selected accounts as shown below:
Manually enter User/Group Accounts
This option is to enter the user/group accounts manually.
Browse Network domains to select Users and Groups
This option allows you to select the user/group accounts in domain controllers, servers and workstations from the available domains.
Scan profiles
This option is to load the Computers or Shares from Scan Profiles (Computers) and Scan Profiles (Users/Groups).
Select Server(s)
This Select servers dialog will be visible only for the following features under NTFS Security Auditor Module:
- Shares (Built-in Reports -> Shares)
- ‘List of Central Access Policies (CAP) and Central Access Rule on the Domain’ report in DAC Reports feature.
Select Server(s) dialog provides several options to add/view the list of servers in a network for which the shared folder permission reports can be generated, as shown below:
Manually enter servers
This option is to enter the server details manually.
Browse Network domains to select Servers
This option allows you to select servers from the listed domains.
Scan profiles
This option is to load the Computers or Shares from Scan Profiles (Computers).
New Report
List of folders that have different permissions from parent folder
Included a new report called “List of folders that have different permissions from parent folder” in Security Vulnerabilities feature. This report displays the folders and files that have different permissions from the given shared folder. Also, now Security Vulnerabilities reports feature can be scheduled to deliver reports at specific date and time intervals by using the Power Export Feature.
