A new version of NTFS Security Manager, version 2.1 has been released recently with features like Grant permissions on sub folders and files that do not have inherited permissions from their parent object, Copy permissions to target folder’s sub folders and files that do not have inherited permissions from their parent object and Replace accounts on specified levels of sub-folder(s) and also replace accounts on sub folders that match the specified search pattern.
Replace account permissions on specified levels of sub-folder(s)
The level to which the sub-folders can be applied is explained below:
- Apply up to Nth level(s) of sub-folder(s) in the shared folder : This option will replace the account with the selected account on sub-folders which are up to specified folder traversal level.
- Apply only on Nth level of sub-folder(s) in the shared folder : This option will replace the account in sub-folders which are in the specified traversal level only.
- Apply after Nth level(s) of sub-folder(s) in the shared folder : This option will replace the account in sub-folders which are after the nth traversal level of the selected folder.
- Apply only on all leaf nodes in the shared folder : This option will replace the account with the selected account in the last child leaf nodes without affecting the parent folder’s permissions.
Replace permissions on sub folders that match the specified search pattern
Use Set Search Pattern option to replace the account with the selected account based on certain predefined conditions like “Folder name starts with” or “Folder name ends with”.
Example – Folder name starts with test.
Grant permissions on sub folders and files that do not have Inheritance set
This option is useful when you want to propagate the selected account permissions to all descendants of the selected shared folders.
